No, At the October 22, 2024 CBA Negotiation Session, Compass Group offered a 60 day extension of the CBA. Unite Here Local 1 rejected our offer for a 60 day CBA extension.

No. Compass Group offered Unite Here Local 1 availability for all dates in November and December. Unite Here Local 1 responded with only 2 available negotiation dates, the soonest being November 20th.

Yes. As of November 8, 2024 Compass Group has successfully offered new positions to all associates at the Allen Center, ensuring placement for everyone who wished to continue employment. This process allowed us to fulfill both our commitment to retain associates and respect the contractual rights of those opting for layoff.

No. Associates bid, by seniority, on open positions on both the Evanston campus and Chicago campus. Some associates chose Chicago campus jobs when Evanston campus jobs were available. No associate was "forced" to take any position on one campus versus the other. Some associates chose to select voluntary layoffs during the bid process even though there were available positions on both the Evanston campus and Chicago campus. The ultimate decision for selecting a position on the Evanston campus, Chicago campus or taking the voluntary layoff was decided by each associate.

Yes. Compass Group has COMMITTED to both Unite Here Local 1 and Compass Group Allen Center Associates that ALL Compass Group Allen Center Associates will receive a job placement offer prior to November 27th.

How can a front-line associate address their concerns about their manager or supervisor?
Associates are encouraged to initiate communication with their unit management first to address any concerns. Engaging in open dialogue with immediate supervisors can often lead to prompt resolutions. However, if associates prefer to discuss matters with someone outside their unit management team, there are several additional channels available:
Department Leaders: Associates can reach out to department leaders who are available to address and assist with their concerns.
Compass HR Office: The Compass HR office is also a resource for associates to visit or call, providing a dedicated space for addressing any concerns and seeking resolutions.
Union Shop Stewards: For matters that associates wish to address through the union, they can contact their union shop steward. Filing formal grievances is an option in collaboration with the union. Compass Group and the union hold monthly meetings to discuss filed grievances for the respective time period, ensuring a structured and transparent resolution process.

The collective bargaining agreement outlines the process for offering overtime. This includes criteria to prioritize eligible associates, based on the seniority and details on communication procedures. In collaboration with external tech teams, Compass Group is actively developing a system to enhance the communication process for overtime opportunities. This initiative aims to create a seamless and error-minimized process for associates, ensuring efficient and transparent communication regarding overtime opportunities.​
